We are constantly striving to become the best versions of ourselves – Not necessarily seeking perfection but to embody a mindful, loving, compassionate person to the best of our ability. We are thrown curve balls that may take us out of alignment and at times it feels like we are back to square one. Perhaps you feel like you are being the best version of yourself but someone else thinks otherwise. These moments can make us feel like enough doesn’t feel like enough. I’m not talking material or superficial “enough”, I’m talking mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves that just doesn’t feel like it’s enough. There’s always somewhere new to improve within ourselves. Like the many layers of the lotus flower, there are constant layers that blossom then fall away when the petals are ready. Just like the lotus, we keep striving to be happier… To keep unlocking more hidden little fears and/or insecurities… To keep challenging ourselves with new experiences… new people… new environments… And all these realizations we face assist with the evolution of our being.

It’s easy to compare ourselves to others. To look up to mentors, gurus, friends, etc – We are so blessed to have so many amazing people and creatures to inspire us to become even better versions of ourselves. Just like technology in our day today, there are constant  upgrades, tweaks, and discontinuing products… We, too, go through similar cycles. It can get overwhelming, can’t it? I know! I used to get bogged down from time-to-time. But you know what? If it wasn’t for all these realizations that are faced head on, I wouldn’t be who I am today!  So all-in-all, all those trivial moments actually were all gifts – Had I been taught these valuable lessons as a child,  I’m sure things would have turned out very different.  But that being said, I do not regret a single thing that has happened in my life, or what I brought onto myself.  Neither should you!  All those trivial moments are gifts that brought so much insight and growth.  So much gratitude.

In those contemplative moments where you feel overwhelmed, just remind yourself:

You are exactly where you should be, right now.
Everything happens for a reason.
You are enough as long as you are content.
But if you are having thoughts of, “I could be better” then take that leap of faith.

Notice, that is YOU who is deciding and YOU who is empowered to make these decisions of change – Not anyone else telling you to do so.
It is YOU who ultimately decides.
It is YOU who feels that intention rising to the surface and making the next move.

Energy alignment is the key to moving forward. Connecting with the subconscious mind is the utmost importance.  In order to break the chains of habitual behaviours that don’t serve us, bare witness, and be completely aware of what goes on in the mind, heart, and external environment throughout your days.  Observe and acknowledge your inner processings. We are powerful beings!  When we choose to change, by setting the intention every single day and making the appropriate shifts of perspective, the process of transformation commences! But that comes from your will and effort to stay determined to conquer your shadow aspect. It takes A LOT of patience, forgiveness, and compassion to do what it takes to really conquer the deep-rooted habitual programming. What we think, we become. Yes?

When this healing and growth process is unraveling, sometimes we get hard on ourselves.  Sometimes someone else is hard on us for not being able to change fast enough or not being able to change the way they want us to change.  I’ve definitely had that happen in my life several times – I never felt adequate.  I was always consumed with the feelings of being a disappointment.  No matter how much better I was feeling compared to my past, I still wasn’t good enough, I wasn’t successful enough, etc…
All the inner work that had been done so far crumbles and… back to square one… No.  You aren’t back to square one.  You are picking up where you left off.  When you feel uprooted and ungrounded, do your ritual whatever you feel brings you back to your center.  If you don’t like the word ritual, how about ceremony, self-love practice, inner workings, mindfulness practice… whatever you call may call it — Align with that practice to expand those roots into the soil and stand tall owning up to your inner truths, your sacred power, your bountiful abundance, unconditional love to yourself…

When I feel these thoughts stirring, I tend to use affirmations to invite positive thinking. By shifting the perspective from fight-or-flight to prosperity seeking, it makes it effortless to breathe into the changes and dance with the flow of life!  When the mind-body-soul is aligned, the negative thoughts fade away into the abyss, hopefully never to be seen again. Sometimes it resurfaces but that’s okay!  You are a powerful being, capable of finding that grounding and rooting to who you truly are – a Warrior!  When one is constantly practicing positive thinking and supplying our vessel with self-love and nurturing, forgiveness and acceptance permeate within.  Think machinery for a second. In order for the mechanic to keep the machine in good condition, it has got to be fine tuned occasionally. Some devices need a little love to run again, no matter how antique, no matter how rusted, etc.  This is most necessary for ourselves.  Just like machinery, we too need to check in with ourselves to operate at our optimum!

Harmonious? Aligned?

What is it like around you in your external environment?
Does this environment and people bring out the best in you?
Have you found your ritual/ceremony/practice that brings you back to grounding?

Here are some affirmations that I repeat to myself when I feel the ick rising up within me:

I love myself.
I am aligned to my heart center.
I choose positive feelings and thoughts to fill my vessel.
I choose to surround myself with harmony and prosperity.

I am empowered.
My mind does not control me, I am in the captain’s seat.
I am able to light the torch in the darkness.
I have made peace with the shadow, acknowledged its presence.
Any worries that I have wash away and evaporate.
I am enough.
I am one of a kind, perfect the way that I am at this moment.
There is no rush. Take your time. Be here Now.
I love you (your name).

If you choose to say one or all of the lines, do so periodically during the day, every day.
Even when you feel the negative thoughts fade away,
bring yourself to recite the one line however many times feels right to you.
Feel each word reverberate through your mind-body-soul.
Allow the words to echo through your vessel.
When you are finished reciting for the time, feel that reverberation in the stillness.
Feel every cell of your body in your veins reprogramming the energetic frequency.
Reach into the depths of your heart – How do you feel?
Check in with yourself. (Feel free to write all you are processing)

The more you practice these affirmations
or one you have created for yourself that you resonate with,
the more you will reprogram yourself
with the positivity and align to your truest self, your higher self.

The key is REPETITION. The more you repeat your ritual/ceremony, the more effortless it will be to implement these 5 steps into your day-to-day, especially when you have an obstacle in your way.

Ask yourself the questions that help you move forward.  Ask yourself questions that help reveal what/who hinders your growth.  Do what is necessary that helps you onwards to living the life you desire.
